Common Questions

Where are you located?

I’m located in Chesapeake, VA in the Western Branch area and I travel all over Hampton Roads.

What’s included in the session fee and when is it due?

Your session fee covers your portrait session, all the info you’ll need to have the best session possible and retouching your images after your session.  This fee is due at the time you book a session, and it guarantees your date and time for your session.  Unfortunately I’m not able to hold a date and time without a paid session fee.

Please note that session fees are non-refundable.  However, in the event that you need to reschedule your session, they are transferable to the new date.

When are sessions available?

Where you’re shooting can dictate the day and time of day.  For instance, beach sessions are held in the evening, preferably on weekdays.  I love to shoot in the last two hours of daylight when the light is most flattering for you and your family.   Most sessions will be held on weekday evenings, but I do have a few weekend spots available.

How far in advance do I need to book my session?

Plan on scheduling about a month in advance.  Once the weather warms up it may be as long as two months.  Weekends go fast, so if you know you need a Saturday or Sunday don’t delay.

How do I schedule my session?

Just fill out this form HERE or give me a call (757-633-1986).  I’ll help you pick a place and time, and send you an invoice that you can pay online.

How do I pay for my session?

I accept cash (exact change please!), check, and credit cards.  I’ll send you a link to pay with your credit card online, which is usually what people prefer to do.  By the way, I accept the same forms of payment for all the goodies you’ll pick out at your Ordering Appointment.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes! I’m happy to work with you to figure out a payment plan that works with your budget.  We can customize the payment amounts and frequency and stretch it out over four months.

How long will the session take?

That seems like such an easy question, doesn’t it?  Between 30 and 60 minutes is the short answer.  The long answer is, how many people are in the shoot, how many of those are under 10?  How many outfits did you bring?  How many different combinations of people did you want?  What’s the temperature like outside, is mom’s makeup dripping off or the babies lips blue?  As you see, there’s really too many variables to be able to give you a definite answer, so just plan on about an hour.

Will you come to me for our session?

Yes, I’ll travel within 5 miles of 23321 for on-location sessions.  You’re further than that?  No problem, just contact me to find out what the travel fee will be.

There’s a hurricane outside, do we still have to shoot?

Suck it up, what’s a little wind???  Seriously though, if the weather forces us to reschedule your session you’ll get the next available day/time that works for your schedule!

My oldest is sick, my husband has to go on a business trip, and my two year old decided to give give themselves a haircut, can I reschedule?

I have a family too, so I understand things come up.  I do ask for you to give me as much notice as possible, but I totally get that kiddos get sick and husbands get sent on unexpected work trips or deployments.

What should we wear?

Don’t worry, I’ve got you covered on that.  Once you schedule your session I’ll send you a clothing guide to help you out.  In the meantime, here’s a few ideas HERE.  Plus you can call or email to ask me about all of you options as much as you’d like 🙂

Our session was amazing!  When do I get to see my images?

It’ll be about two weeks after your session and I’ll come to your home.  Remember, both decision makers need to be there, it’s hard to decide on your own!

What products do you offer?

I offer prints (both mounted and loose), canvases, accordion mini albums, digital images, and greeting cards.  You can check out all the goodies offered HERE.

Do I have to purchase a certain amount?

No, but I’ll tell you now that you’re going to want everything!  My average client spends between $900-1200 at their Ordering Appointment.

Oh my goodness I love my images and can’t wait to get them on my wall!  How long is it going to take to get my stuff?

Normally between 3 to 4 weeks.  Cards, canvases, and images boxes take longer (about a month after final approval).  Keep in mind that I don’t order any storyboards, albums, or clusters until you’ve approved the design.

I purchased the digital images.  Do I have the copyright to the images now?

While Lisa Anne Photography retains the copyright, you have personal usage rights for the images.  What does that mean? Well, you can print them out, post them on facebook, use them for your Christmas card, email them to Aunt Jane, etc. But you can’t sell them or use them commercially.

Can I scan the prints I ordered and post them on facebook to share with my friends?

According to the US Copyright Act, legally this is strictly prohibited.  I know you’re excited about your portraits and can’t wait for everyone to see them, so I’m happy to post the images you ordered on facebook for you.  Just “like” Lisa Anne Photography and shoot me an email to let me know you’d like me to post some 🙂

So can I come back in six months and order more?

I store all of the ordered images on online backup for one year, but there will be a small fee involved if they’re off my hard drives already.

Do you offer gift certificates?

Absolutely!  What better gift to give???  Gift certificates are available in any dollar amount and can be sent in either electronic format or as a traditional card format with packaging.
